i'm back from obs!
it was... well, it was definitely a memorable experience. and it was fun, despite all the not-so-nice things.

i learnt:
- not to pitch tents while wearing shorts and short-sleeved shirt and no insect repellant. because that's how i got 20+ sandfly bites on the first day, while pitching the tent. in case you are wondering why i was so stupid, i seriously didn't know there were so many sandflies everywhere.
- to be careful where ever i step in the beach. because, after kayaking on the first day, we all got stuck in the mud while bringing our kayaks up to shore. and we were stuck to the extent that we couldn't pull our feet out of the mud at all. and we couldn't get other people to help cos they'd get stuck too. that's how my shoes ended up a beautiful grey colour. and that's how i got scratches all over my hands, arms and feet.
- that pitching tents is damn fun!! my group was very good at it XD we could pitch a tent properly and make it look nice and neat and stable in 10min!
- that being tired to death is not having a day of classes and then cca after school. not even close. tired to death is walking 3.2km with a 20kg backpack, finally reaching the destination and pitching our tents, only to find out that the groups that were supposed to bring our kayaks over couldn't make it, causing us to have to unpitch out tents and walk another 3+km. or kayaking for 20km in 6h, against the tide. oh that was quite amusing, cos we pushed really hard at first and went quite a long distance in the first hour. then we were very very happy and kayaked slower to wait for the people behind, only to find out that half an hour later, we were still in the same place cos the tide was pushing us back -.-
- that oranges have a very very nice smell, especially when you're seasick.
- that the inverse tower is damn cool. divya and i got to the top together! XD it was really scary, actually, but it was so fun.
- that the dark is scary. and that i'm terribly paranoid. during night walk i kept hearing footsteps behind me and seeing people everywhere and thinking that a serial killer was going to jump out of the bushes at anytime and kill me and thinking that i was terribly lost and i'd never make it back to camp 2. and whenever i heard an airplane i kept thinking it was going to drop a bomb onto me. haha, it sounds lame now but it was really scary at that time.
- that jetty jump is anticlimax -.- all that happened is that i got a lot of water up my nose.
- that the food at camp 1 is DAMN NICE when you've been eating rations. and homecooked food is nicer!
- to be careful when moving kayak paddles, because i hit myself in the eye with a paddle and now i have scratches beneath my eye -.- looks so gross. and my eyes are all red cos of the seawater that got into them.
- that i sleep in a weird way, according to divya, at least. and i mumble in my sleep! at least i didn't sleepwalk heh.
- that making up retarded songs is fun >< like, "rock-a-bye kayak, on the seatop. when the wind blows the kayak will rock" etc.
- that being retarded is fun! "the whole boat is rocking. that rocks." and, of course, yixin's and my countless "crazy, i was crazy once" etc.
- that blisters with pus oozing out are DISGUSTING. and i have a lot of those on my feet. stupid wet shoes. and i got a rash too. disgusting.
- that i now swear a lot lot lot more. i can go "shit" at anything. hm i really should clean up my language. oh, and the people in my tent were debating over which was nicer - "f***ing shit" or "freaking pee" -.-
- that i do not turn brown, i turn BLACK. i am so so so blackened.
- that itches are terribly irritating. was trying [unsucessfully] not to scratch my sandfly bites, but in the end i still scratched. i hate sandflies. they still itch and itch and itch and nothing seems to be able to stop the itch.
- that not being red right after you get out of the sun does not mean not being sunburnt. when i took off my pants when i got home i discovered my thighs were all red red red red red. gross. although it doesn't hurt, thankfully.
- THAT KENNY IS SO SO NICE. and mel too. and 306 ROCKS. whee.

haha, that's it for my obs post. obs rocks (: and, i never thought i'd think this, but i miss it. sigh.
